anoint for colds

Anoint for Colds, Sinusitis etc.

In the last two weeks, I had caught a bad cold with even worse sinusitis and sinus infection. Unfortunately, I am allergic to VapoRub since childhood, or against the petroleum jelly in it, besides, I’m not to fond of the whole other stuff that is still there in it. So I thought about how I can make it myself – and actually that’s easy.

I already had the essential oils because I have them in my diffuser all the time, especially to breathe at night. However many recipes I found online wanted beeswax as a basis but I did not have it in stock. Since my intention this year is to take what I already have in the closet, I thought, I’ll try it with coconut oil. It is important that the coconut oil is soft, but not melted. I just put it on the heater for a few minutes.

The mixture stays with the vitamin E for about a year, but in the summer you should put it in the fridge, otherwise the coconut oil melts. I rub my chest, forehead, and a little under my nose. But it’s also good to bathe with it! Just pour in a bath with sea salt, bath salts or similar and shortly before you get into the tub, spread a teaspoon of the mixture in hot water. After the bath immediately go to bed and sleep.

A word about the essential oils: this is the mixture that helps me the best. But that can be individually very different. If you are allergic to an oil or you don’t have it on hand, just leave it out or replace it with another one.

Feel free to add any extra healing intention, magick or witchcraft, while mixing!

  • 10 drops of Mint Oil – Peppermint or Japanese Mint Oil
  • 10 drops of lavender oil
  • 10 drops of lemon
  • 10 drops of tea tree
  • 5 drops of thyme
  • 5 drops of rosemary
  • 50g/1,75 oz soft coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of vitamin E

Mix coconut oil, olive oil and vitamin E thoroughly until a smooth mass is obtained. Then add the essential oils one by one. Fill and seal everything in a sterile glass (eg a small jam jar).
